As the conflict in the area surges on, the UK government is contracting extra flights to evacuate British citizens out of the war-torn country. According to reports, another flight is scheduled for tomorrow, Sunday. So far, the evacuation has taken over 250 citizens. This is said to be the fourth government-organized flight.
Although their demand for such flights has decreased, with close to 2,000 British nationals registered in Lebanon, many still want to be left there due to strong ties in the country. The foreign office has, however urged those who want to leave to register for the flights since the situation is still volatile. British nationals and their partners along with children under 18 will first be given priority.
The UK has been liaising closely with Cyprus, deploying troops and government staff for contingency planning while Prime Minister Keir Starmer and Foreign Secretary David Lammy have urged nationals to take the earliest opportunity to depart the country.
Commercial capacity is slim at this point in time; however, extra support is being given for the safety of British citizens.
