Eight Colombian soldiers, who were on a humanitarian mission, were killed when a helicopter crashed near the Venezuela-Colombia border. According to President Gustavo Petro, the accident occurred in the Vichada department. No time for the accident could be established.
Search and rescue mission established no survivals
The Colombian Air Force began a search operation, finding the downed helicopter in a rural area within the municipality of Cumaribo. The crewmen were not found alive. The families of the victims are being looked after as recovery work continues.
