The Indian badminton team has started a five-day preparatory camp in Guwahati to hone their preparations before the Badminton Asia Mixed Team Championships 2025. The camp, scheduled at the National Center of Excellence, will assist the players in strengthening their game, developing strategic approaches, and building team cohesion before they leave for China for the prestigious event.
Tournament Details and India’s Participation
The Badminton Asia Mixed Team Championships 2025 will be held in Qingdao, China, from 11 to 16 February. The Indian contingent is scheduled to leave for the event on February 8. This event is crucial as it is a yardstick for checking the strength and depth of a team in Asian badminton.
India in Previous Editions
India won a Bronze medal in the 2023 edition of the tournament held in Dubai and it was a significant milestone. But this is a team that has performed better and is keen to improve that performance and get a better medal in this years’ event.
India’s Group and Tournament Format
India is placed in Group D with South Korea and Macau. The event will follow the round-robin format for the group stages, and the teams will be eligible to proceed for the knockout stages based on the performances in the group stage. As this event is quite competitive, India has to give out their best to go into the latter stages.

The preparatory camp in Guwahati was designed as an exposure to young players and would actually allow the best talents from India to train in common and develop team chemistry. ” Besides developing better technical skills, it is also focused on discipline, teamwork, and sportsmanship,” said Badminton Association of India (BAI) Secretary General Sanjay Mishra.
The senior team camp will allow juniors an opportunity to learn from the country’s finest while also creating an ideal environment of team bonding ahead of this big event,” said Mishra.
India’s Medal Aspirations
India aims at an improvement on the bronze medals in 2023 and expects a final slot this year. The team looks very confident at having a proper serious push to claim the title, as the squad has quite experienced players, and some exciting new talents that could be utilized.
