A robbery worth ₹1.2 crore unfolded in Hyderabad’s Domalguda area when Indrajit Ghorai, along with 11 accomplices, stormed his elder brother’s house, making off with gold, silver, brass items, and cash. The incident was driven by personal resentment and financial envy, as Indrajit harbored jealousy towards his brother’s successful business.
Details of the Robbery
On 12 December 2024, Indrajit and his gang, armed with axes, knives, sickles, and a lighter gun, barged into the house of his elder brother, Ranjeet Ghorai. The group threatened the family members and proceeded to steal gold and silver ornaments, brass materials, and ₹2.9 lakh in cash. The total value of the stolen goods was estimated at ₹1.2 crore.
Motive Behind the Crime
It was based on personal vendetta. Indrajit, who had been incurring losses in his gold ornament business, was bitter against his brother who had succeeded in the business. His lavish spending and failure to generate profits from his business further fueled his jealousy. This made him plan the robbery as a revenge.
Arrest and Recovery
The Central Zone Task Force, along with Domalguda Police, arrested all 12 members of the gang on the spot, including main accused Indrajit Ghorai, who belongs to West Bengal. All looted goods, including gold, silver, brassware, cash, and a car, were recovered. Further, several weapons, namely axes, knives, and sickles, were confiscated from the gang members.
This robbery shows to what extent personal animosities can go, especially in the face of financial constraint. The swift action taken by law enforcement led to the successful capture of the culprits and the recovery of the stolen items, thus ensuring justice for the victims.
