Biden’s Public Re-appearance
US President Joe Biden appeared in public sight for the first time since he withdrew from the race for the presidency and tested positive for COVID-19. His absence had spurred conspiracy theories on social media, with some users saying the 81-year-old leader’s health was in decline, with some claims he was in “hospice care” and “unlikely to survive the night.” Where’s Joe trended globally on X after Biden had been out of the public eye for five days while isolating and recovering from COVID-19 at his Delaware home.
Return to the White House
Biden returned to the White House on Wednesday after his doctors said his COVID-19 symptoms had cleared and he tested negative for the virus on a rapid antigen test. “I am feeling well,” he said. The President boarded a plane to the White House as reporters shouted questions at him about his health, his decision to drop out of the race.
Withdrawal from Re-Election Bid
Quarantined, Biden found himself having to announce his surprise withdrawal from the re-election bid after months of declaring he would not drop out amidst increasing pressure from his party. Taking to social media, he announced that he would not be accepting the Democratic nomination, instead choosing to “focus all his energies on his duties as president.
