The Seahawks made their first NFL loss of the season at Ford Field as the Detroit Lions 42-29 defeated Seattle. For Jared Goff, it was a coming-out party with him completing all 18 of his attempted passes in a game now marked in the history books with the most completions without an incompletion in the history of the NFL. Goff had two touchdown passes and caught his first-career receiving touchdown as part of his perfect passing performance.
That’s good when the ball doesn’t hit the ground, said Goff to ESPN. I was not even sure [of the record during the game]. I was trying to remember if I had any incomplete passes.
The Seahawks lost the game against the Seahawks, but quarterback Geno Smith was doing quite a good job of his own with a high score in his career with 395 yards in the pass and completion of 38 out of 56 attempts, and with one score and an intercept.
Lions Dominate Early
Detroit Lions came out strong in this game. By halftime, they led 21-7. Running back Jahmyr Gibbs scored twice with David Montgomery to make it 3 touchdowns. Seahawks also had a fair turn of events, and they trimmed the Lions’ lead to just one score by the end of this half. Goff answered that for Detroit with a 70-yard touchdown of Jameson Williams to make it 35-20.
Fightback by the Seahawks
Early in the fourth quarter, Kennedy Walker III gave the Seahawks hope with a 21-yard touchdown run when they were within striking distance. But Goff sealed the victory with a touchdown pass to Amon-Ra St. Brown in the final quarter. In the first half, St. Brown also passed to Goff for his first-career receiving touchdown on a trick play.
Standings Update
The Lions are now at 3-1 for the season and are still in second place of NFC North, because of being unbeaten Minnesota Vikings. The Seahawks are still on top of the NFC West and they maintain that status with 3-1, even after this loss.
Titans Take First Win
The Tennessee Titans finally have a win this season, as they won their Monday game 31-12 over the Miami Dolphins at Hard Rock Stadium. Nick Folk made five field goals, but the Dolphins were up 16-3 at the time when Tony Pollard and Tyjae Spears both scored touchdowns and starting QB Tua Tagovailoa sat. Facing backup Tyler Huntley with his team down, Baltimore was headed into the late stages of the fourth quarter without a touchdown in 10 quarters. When he scored on a one-yard rushing touchdown, they might have gotten something going. Miami, however, stays at 1-3 and still sits at the bottom of the AFC East.
Titans quarterback Will Levis hurt his shoulder in the first quarter and was replaced by Mason Rudolph, meaning he won’t play anymore this game. Tennessee Titans is now at 1-3 and remains on third position of the AFC South, while the Jacksonville Jaguars are still without a single win.
