Balochistan: Victims include five children as heavy downpours batter the region.
The country witnessed the unfortunate death of 39 people, including children, due to the recurrences of monsoon rains since July 1 in Balochistan. The PDMA reported that during various incidents five children lost their lives in result of flash floods and their incidents at dams due to these rains during the past 24 hours in Zhob, Khuzdar, and Kech districts.
The PDMA has announced 11 districts as calamity-hit and is carrying out the relief work. The fresh spell of rain that started sometime back is likely to continue for which as many as 22 districts are in the line of fire. The torrential rains not only caused human losses but also resulted in severe losses to infrastructure and agriculture as thousands of houses, roads, and medical units were affected.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa: Four more lives lost as heavy rainfall continues to batter the province.
Four people have been reported to have died due to the relentless rains in the past 24 hours in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. PDMA is continuing to work actively as rains still continue. Karakoram Highway that had been blocked by landslides has been reopened.
It has therefore eminently deteriorated due to the combined effects of monsoon rains and the remnants of Cyclonic Storm Asna across the country. The rain is, however, still expected, and the authorities have called for alerts while canceling holidays for the emergency personnel so as to ensure quick and effective response to the disaster at hand.
