Islamabad, Pakistan’s – premier agency, the ISI, has now appointed Lieutenant General Muhammad Asim Malik as their new Director General. According to the Inter-Service Public Relations (ISPR), this was announced in a Monday release.
Whereas Gen Malik is to take over charge on September 30 and at present is holding rank of adjutant general at the General Headquarters in Rawalpindi. That looks good because there has been immense military background and experience within the Pakistani armed forces to be written under the agency’s operations in the coming years.
The ISI has long been a force to reckon with in both domestic and international issues. Now it has Gen Malik to look up to for advice on these complex security issues Pakistan is now being faced with.
Such an appointment has come at a point in time when the country is facing so many complex geopolitical issues and features to deal with concerning internal security.
This appointment has thus brought great deal of limelight from military and political circles, as critical role the ISI plays in determining Pakistan’s strategic way forward.
