Week six in the NFL saw some games which showed multitudes of high-scoring performances. The main attraction, though, was when the Baltimore Ravens defeated the Washington Commanders 30-23. This was one great match-up: for the Ravens, their future returning starter, Lamar Jackson, and for the Commanders, rookie sensation Jayden Daniels, quarterback.
Both gave thrills and great performances with Jackson putting in 323 aerial yards and a touchdown and with Daniels chalking up 269 aerial yards and two touchdowns. The Ravens locked in the victory, however, after Derrick Henry remarkable performance with 132 rushing yards and two touchdowns. His efforts put the game away for the second-straight win, which brought the season total to four in a row.
Dominant Detroit Lions:
The Detroit Lions really made their stamp on the Dallas Cowboys, with a blowout 47-9 win. Quarterback Jared Goff was instrumental in the win, contributing 486 total yards and five touchdowns. Injuries to the Cowboys did not inhibit the damage they suffered as it marked their worst home loss since 1988. The Lions improved to 5-1, showing tremendous offensive value.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers Set New Record with Win:
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers threw everything they had on the field in a 51-27 win over the New Orleans Saints, dressing down the win to their fans back in Tampa Bay following Hurricane Milton. Quarterback Baker Mayfield’s four touchdowns helped to tally 594 yards of total offense in what is a franchise record. After allowing the Saints to score 27 points in a rather shaky second quarter, the Buccaneers regrouped to shut down New Orleans in the second half.
Green Bay Packers and Houston Texans Showing Glints of Brilliance:
Jordan Love again played admirably as the Green Bay Packers overcame the Arizona Cardinals with four touchdown passes. They surged their win ratio to 4-2, but the Packers’ defense bailed them out on the three possessions it turned over. The Houston Texans showed their good form even with a rookie quarterback CJ Stroud as they overcame the New England Patriots with a comfortable 41-21 scoreline. Their record stands tall at 5-1.
Coaching Concerns and Quarterback Conundrums:
Despite coaching worries, Los Angeles Chargers head coach Jim Harbaugh came off the sideline to address a heart arrhythmia before returning to coach through a defensive display versus the Denver Broncos. Meanwhile, the return of AJ Brown paid quite handsome dividends for the Philadelphia Eagles in his coming out party with 116 receiving yards to include a score. Things were not quite so sweet, however, for the quarterback of the Cleveland Browns as Deshaun Watson’s misery seemed to bring about questions about the direction of the team.
Tennessee Titans:
Quarterback Will Levis had a lot to be criticized about after a disastrous performance, and now some ask if it’s time to get away from the somewhat failed quarterback.
Pittsburgh Steelers: With new signal-caller Justin Fields, beat the Las Vegas Raiders even with Fields’s unbalanced throwing.Regular season: Better or worse, a key story to watch throughout the season:
The Cincinnati Bengals salvaged their season with a 17-7 win against the New York Giants, and in doing so, Joe Burrow showed off his impressive dual-threat skills. The Atlanta Falcons have used a high-powered running game to gain 198 yards, which had gone on to produce three touchdowns to earn a victory against the Carolina Panthers.
In the coming weeks, people’s attention would all be on how these teams that have passed this point would handle the struggles that await them, especially the struggling franchises that want to salvage whatever is left of their season.
