Samsung has launched the Galaxy S25 Ultra in addition to its regular Galaxy S25 series with several design and functional upgrades. The most prominent upgrade in this series is the new S Pen, which boasts a significantly lighter design compared to its predecessor, the S24 Ultra. At only 218 grams, the Galaxy S25 Ultra is a welcome departure from the S24 Ultra’s 232 grams, partially due to modifications made to the S Pen. These changes have resulted in lost features and inner components, including the elimination of the S Pen’s battery and Bluetooth capabilities.
Pricing and Availability of the New S Pen
Samsung has put up the new S Pen for sale on its official US website for $49.99 (approximately Rs. 4,358). The new S Pen has been priced the same as the previous model despite it lacking most of the features seen in earlier models. As of now, the S Pen is not listed on Samsung’s India website, and fans are waiting for confirmation of its price in India.
Design and Functional Changes in the New S Pen
One of the major design and functional changes in the new S Pen is that the batter and Bluetooth have been merged with the Galaxy S25 Ultra.
Older S Pens, especially those packaged with older Galaxy Ultras and the Galaxy Note series, came with high-end functionality features, such as Bluetooth-powered Air Actions and remote control over the camera app. The new S Pen, however, does not provide these features; thus, it becomes a simple stylus. It may perform such basic acts like scribbling and selecting, but the high-tech interactivity seen in earlier versions is missing.
The Role of the S Pen in the Galaxy S Ultra Series
Samsung’s Ultra series has never failed to evoke the thought of S Pen especially in those people who have love for productivity and creativity.
S Pen has also become one of the signature elements of Ultra. The Ultra version of S pen offers an inbuilt silo in which it houses the stylus within itself in the main device. The feature puts the Galaxy S Ultra out on a league of its own; it outbeats Samsungs foldable flagship, Galaxy Z Fold 6, since a case would need to be obtained in order for it to be able to accommodate its S Pen. Moreover, the S Pen on Galaxy Z Fold 6 lacks the presence of Bluetooth that the Galaxy S25 Ultra misses as well. Future of S Pen on Samsung Devices Perhaps it may be an omen for change in how the company thinks of the stylus.
Samsung S Pen reduction into basic functions and features, at least that’s what they want to appear now, suggests Samsung is finally distancing itself from advanced Bluetooth functionality offered by more advanced S Pen functionalities.
That, in turn, could even shape the direction and positioning of future Galaxy series – perhaps in new Galaxy Notes releases, in case the product lines are back again. The S Pen, however, is still an integral part of the Galaxy S Ultra series. It is still a tool for users to increase their productivity, creativity, and overall experience with the device.
A Simpler, Lighter Stylus Experience The new S Pen for the Galaxy S25 Ultra is a step away from the more feature-packed versions of the past. While it is lighter and more basic, it is still a functional tool to Galaxy S25 Ultra owners.
Samsung’s decision to strip down the capabilities of the S Pen might be a sign of the way in which the company thinks stylus use from now on in its flagships.
Still, the S Pen is a defining feature of the Galaxy S Ultra line, and future versions will likely continue to evolve in lockstep with Samsung’s broader product strategy.
