An earnest dog attack on a 34-year-old Townsville north Queensland woman left her in a stable condition. Services were alerted to the scene at around 7:00 am, where she had suffered life-threatening injuries.
Her right arm was reported severed below the elbow and paramedics could retrieve the detached part. She was taken to the Townsville University Hospital where surgeons are trying to reattach her arm.
A suspected pit bull terrier was described as being extremely aggressive and had to be put down at the scene. The injuries were “catastrophic, by definition of Senior Sergeant Scott Warrick.
He said this is one of the worst attacks he has seen in 37 years on the job. A smaller dog, police believe was also a pit bull was, uninjured and taken into the RSPCA’s care. Investigations are continuing, but it has been reported that the dog had a history of aggressive behavior.
This attack comes just one day after another serious attack by dogs in Melbourne. There, a woman is reported to be in a critical condition after the worst injuries. Meanwhile, three dogs were shot dead by police.
