London: British Prime Minister Keir Starmer will hold an emergency meeting with top police chiefs today after a second night of brutal confrontation between protesters and police.
Demonstrations and Public Disorder
On Wednesday evening, thousands of anti-immigration protesters gained outside the office-cum-residence of Starmer at Downing Street, shouting slogans including “save our kids” and “we want our country back”.
The Incident
It occurred in conjunction with a “Taylor Swift yoga and dance workshop” which is one of the summer activities for kids within the age bracket starting from six up to 11 years old. Police arrested a 17-year-old male suspect for murder and attempted murder in connection with the crime.
Reaction by Prime Minister
The office of Starmer said he would use Thursday’s police meeting to offer full backing to the government after incidents of “extreme violence and public disorder” in recent weeks.
Informational Lies and Legal Consequences
Social media circulated rumors the suspect was a radical Islamist migrant. Police confirm that indeed the incident was not terrorism-related and that the suspect was born in Britain, resting speculation about his origins.
