Legal notices to the political leaders and coaching centre officials, Bihar Public Service Commission BPSC issued notices to political leaders and other figures associated with coaching centers against the allegations that cropped up on December 13 for the Combined Competitive Examination CCE. The commission sought to counter the “baseless” complaints over the integrity of the examination.
Key Personalities Who Received the Legal Notices
Prashant Kishor:
Founder of Jan Suraaj Party, and a powerful political figure himself, who was hospitalised during his fast unto death protest has been served with a legal notice regarding his statements claiming that jobs in the BPSC exam are being sold as high as for Rs 1.5 crore, where he has been asked to prove the evidence within seven days.
Khan Sir:
The Patna-based tutor and YouTuber Khan Sir, who has been supporting the protesting BPSC aspirants, also received a notice. He said he would consult with lawyers before responding but reiterated his commitment to continuing the fight for students.
BPSC has also served notices to all those individuals and coaching institutes, which are claimed to have disseminated false information about the examination. This even includes an FIR against a coaching center in Patna, Khan Sir is affiliated with.
Protests and Political Support
BPSC aspirants who allege anomalies in the December 13 exam have managed to attract political support as well. The latest supporter for their cause has been independent MP Pappu Yadav, who has announced Bihar bandh on January 12. Student protesters have also drawn support from other leaders like Tejashwi Yadav and Prashant Kishor. The students, however, are yet to get a statement from Bihar CM Nitish Kumar regarding their demand for cancellation of the exam.
The controversy of exam irregularities revolves around a question paper leak, which compelled the BPSC to conduct an examination afresh for more than 12,000 candidates who sat for the examination in Patna. The allegations were rejected by the BPSC, but this issue continues to raise questions over the transparency and fairness of the state’s examination system.
Legal and Political Ramifications: The situation is rapidly escalating, with protests still going on along with legal notices. Students are planning to approach the Patna High Court, whereas the BPSC’s move will raise many questions regarding the approach that can be taken in similar cases in the future.
The BPSC’s December 13 exam row now unfolds with legal, political, and public ramifications. This controversy is likely to have effects on the state’s educational landscape as it touches the lives of several parties whose stakes run high for the future of Bihar’s examination system.
