As Coldplay’s ‘Music of the Spheres World Tour’ reaches Navi Mumbai, preparations are underway by the authorities in the form of enhanced security for the concerts scheduled to take place on January 18, 19, and 21, 2025 at the DY Patil Stadium. With an approximate attendance of about 45,000 fans daily, close to 1,000 police personnel will be available to ensure the event remains well within the rule of law and order.
Deployment of Security Personnel
To control the enormous crowd, a large number of police officers will be deployed within and outside the stadium. The security personnel will be in charge of crowd control management, maintaining order, and preventing untoward incidents from happening. As informed by Navi Mumbai police, the officers’ breakdown in deployments are as follows:
Inside the stadium: 70 officers and 434 policemen will ensure security and order inside the venue.
Outside the stadium: 21 officers and 440 policemen will be placed along the periphery of the stadium and other places to deal with the crowd and traffic congestion.
They will be part of the event’s general security arrangement, so that fans feel safe and the event is free-flowing.
Traffic Management and Vehicle Restrictions
As heavy traffic congestion can be expected due to the concert events in this highly populated region of Navi Mumbai, police have restricted movement of heavy vehicles. Vehicles arriving from Uran, Nhavasheva, Pune, and Thane won’t be allowed on the roads in the vicinity of the stadium during concert days so that the traffic on the road does not hamper the concert-goers, thus reducing traffic congestion.
Apart from these, Thane city police have issued similar orders in their jurisdiction to regulate the movement of heavy vehicles.
Designated parking areas for concertgoers
Designated parking zones have been provided for concert-goers to prevent congestion and other traffic problems. Police will supervise the parking zones, ensuring that cars are parked without blocking traffic flow. The harmonized coordination is intended to ensure that a smooth experience for fans attending the concerts is ensured as well as public safety.
