Bangkok: Up to 100 are feared dead in a devastating drone attack on fleeing Rohingya refugees from Myanmar, according to the report. “Eyewitness accounts speak of chaos as survivors search for loved ones among piles of bodies near the border between Myanmar and Bangladesh”. The attack reportedly targeted the families that were waiting to cross into Bangladesh, and is believed to be the deadliest assault on civilians in Rakhine State in several weeks.

Videos shared on social media show the casualties scattered everywhere in the muddy landscape, and abandoned personal effects. The blame game is up between the Arakan Army and Myanmar’s military. As a matter of fact, how many were killed or injured remains unverified as inquiries are underway.

Details are being verified by the United Nations and humanitarian organizations, which are doing all they can to support survivors. The persecution of the Rohingya has contributed to the worst degree of conflict in Myanmar, scaling up to the latest clashes between junta forces and other armed groups.
