Pakistan, KPK – At least 16 personnel have been injured as an explosion occurred on the second floor of the city police station in Swabi district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Thursday.
The police said that some short circuit in a room where materials and case evidence were kept might have caused the blast.

An investigation has been launched to find out the cause behind it
According to a Swabi police spokesman, the cause for the explosion is due to the stock of explosive substances in the warehouse of the police station. Mardan Regional Police Officer Najibur Rehman said that 17 policemen were injured due to this incident. He stated that bomb disposal teams are investigating the cause of the explosion.

Casualties and Rescue Operations Continue
District Emergency Officer Awais Babar said rescue teams moved 15 injured to District Headquarters Hospital and Bacha Khan Medical Complex. He said there are “25 casualties” and that rescue work is still in progress at the scene.

Governemnt Response and Inquiry
Provincial Police Chief and the Chief Secretary of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province will be summoned and directed to reach the blast site immediately. He has also sought detailed reports on the nature of the explosion.
He has further directed local administrations to start rescue activities and ensure prompt medical aid is given to the injured.

Earlier, several such blasts occurred
This reminds one of the earlier blast on July 17 at Jamshoro Police Station, where the hand grenades kept in the police station have exploded, leaving five policemen and one suspect injured. According to Deputy Inspector General Tariq Razzak Dharejo, that earlier blast was due to old hand grenades exploding with the rise in temperature.

This is a developing story, and further updates will be made as long as there are more developments in information. At times, initial reports may be incomplete, so changes will be based on credible sources, including those relevant authorities.
