The man involved in the bombing of a Tesla Cybertruck outside the Trump International Hotel in Las Vegas on January 1, 2025, is identified as former US Army member Matthew Livelsberger, also known as Matthew Livelsburger, a Green Beret, who died with seven injured victims in the blast. His remains were identified using some military and personal identification documents located at the area where the accident occurred. Their authorities are then investigating the circumstances that led Livelsberger to commit such action.

Explosive Act of “Cleansing His Mind”

Livelsberger took two digital notes on his charred mobile phone that stated the purpose of his act. The first noted that he did not consider his act a form of terrorism but a personal form of “cleansing his mind.” He noted that he wanted to be relieved of the burden of many lives he took for his military service and brothers he lost for himself. Livelsberger seemed to be burdened by his service in Afghanistan from 2017 to 2018.

Lost Confidence in America’s Leadership

In the second note, Livelsberger expressed his discontent toward the United States leadership as “feckless” and self-serving. He believed America was “terminally ill” and would soon meet its collapse, insisting that veterans, servicemen, and citizens alike must take a strong stand against what he perceived was the decaying state of the country. His frustration with the state of the nation seemed to fuel his tragic decision.

PTSD and Personal Issues in Play

Federal investigators believe that Livelsberger could have been acting on worse cases of PTSD and possibly even other personal problems. His marked military career and experience during his tours in Afghanistan could have contributed to his case of mental illness. According to FBI Special Agent Spencer Evans, the incident was a “tragic case of suicide” as the victim could not overcome his PTSD.

Livelsberger’s Final Voyage and Domestic Conflicts

Livelsberger drove out of his house in Colorado Springs right after Christmas as he got into a dispute with his wife. According to police, Livelsberger was found to rent a Tesla Cybertruck. He kept filming his travels where he passed multiple charging points before arriving at the Trump International Hotel. Surviellence captures him approaching the hotel then triggering the explosive then shooting himself to death.

An Urgent Action to Society

In his second letter, Livelsberger called others to action against the decaying American society he observed. He stated that the leaders of the nation are taking it towards collapse, with citizens and veterans left to fend for themselves. His poignant words reflect his deep frustration with the political and social climate of the time.

Federal officials and local law enforcement continue to investigate the details surrounding Livelsberger’s motives and the tragic bombing. Authorities are reviewing his military background and personal life to find further clues on why he resorted to such extreme measures. The bombing is being seen as a tragic act linked to his mental health issues and disillusionment with the state of the nation.
