In November, photographer Pervez Taufiq and his family were racially harassed aboard a United Airlines shuttle bus at Los Angeles International Airport. A fellow passenger, Arlene Consuela, launched into a tirade against the family, making racist remarks about their Indian heritage. The confrontation began when Taufiq’s 11-year-old son was asked about his family’s background and escalated with Consuela hurling expletives and discriminatory comments.

Taufiq video recorded the incident, depicting Consuela accusing the family of not being American and making offensive gestures. The video went viral, sparking outrage and international attention for the plight of the family. Many people, including flight crew, expressed their support for Taufiq and his family.
