An Israeli airstrike on southern Lebanon killed four fighters from the Iran-backed militant group Hezbollah on Saturday, a security source told AFP on condition of anonymity.
Details of the Strike
It occurred in the village of Kfar Kila, a location that has seen repeated hostilities between Hezbollah and Israeli forces. The security source added that four Hezbollah fighters were killed in the strike.
Hezbollah’s Response
The organization, which has engaged in nearly daily exchanges with the Israeli military since the start of the Gaza war in October, confirmed the killing of its members. In the official statement by the group, it said that four of its fighters were killed after Israel’s airstrike.
Continued Tensions
Since the outbreak of the war in Gaza, the border conflict between Hezbollah and the Israeli army has only grown more serious, with both sides suffering from the losses and damages. This incident represents the perpetuation of volatility in this region.
With these incidents still fanning emotions, the international community keenly watches over the state of affairs and calls for de-escalation while seeking ways to mediate peace between the conflicting parties.
