Palakkad, Kerala – National Coordination Conclave Condemns Heinous Crime
A national coordination conclave of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) held in Palakkad, Kerala, has denounced the recent violence against a female doctor in West Bengal. Incidentally, Sunil Ambekar, RSS Akhil Bharatiya Prachar Pramukh, while presenting anxieties of the conclave during a press conference on Monday, termed the incident in West Bengal as “very unfortunate”.

Incident in West Bengal: A Tragic Loss
The three-day RSS conclave, described as ‘Samanway Baithak’, was occupied mainly with the horrific rape-murder of a 31-year-old woman doctor at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata on August 9, an incident that had sent shockwaves across the nation and continued to haunt the discussion of every delegate attending the conclave at RSS.

Mr. Ambekar said that the rising number of such incidents in various parts of the country requires revisiting the existing laws and penal actions. “There is an urgent need to provide fast-track procedures to ensure speedy delivery of justice to the victims of such atrocities,” he added.

“Everybody is concerned about it,” Ambekar said, underlining the need for a strong solution on this issue. He also said deliberations were made during the conclave on what the government can do, the official mechanisms that could be put in place and effectiveness of existing legal frameworks in checking such crimes.

Position of RSS on Women’s Safety
The discussions at the RSS conclave reflected a broader concern about rising incidents of violence against women in India. It called for reforms so that law enforcement can become more effective, and faster judicial processes are delivered to victims.

Arrest and Ongoing Investigation
The police had arrested a civic volunteer in connection with the crime following the horrific incident. This move comes amidst widespread demands for tougher action in the wake of a continuing investigation to ensure such tragedies do not recur.

The resolution adopted at the conclave amply underscored the commitment of the RSS to demand protection and dignity for women in India. Revisiting laws and pushing for speedier processes of justice, the organization thus hopes to see crimes against women considerably reduced and justice delivered faster to victims.
