For now, The Legend of Maula Jatt was scheduled to release in December 2022 in India, but for unknown reasons, the film has been indefinitely postponed. An Indian multiplex chain, INOX, revealed at that time that “The distributor has conveyed that the release of the film in India has now been postponed indefinitely, and we have not been given any new date or the reason for stalling the release.”
However, Zee Studios has not issued any statement regarding this kind of opposition coming from the political fronts; though speculations have been rife in the media. MNS has been reported to oppose the movie’s release for which Central Board of Film Certification has not issued any official statement on the matter.

Since the release of Legend of Maula Jatt in Pakistan on October 13, 2022, this film is a roaring hit. Bilal Lashari directed the film, which broke all records and became the highest-grossing Pakistani film ever, crossing Rs400 crore worldwide before August 2023.
