A travel influencer from Mumbai identified as Aanvi Kamdar, 27 years old, has died from falling down into a gorge while shooting an Instagram Reel. Kamdar, a chartered accountant who documented her travels on Instagram @theglocaljournal, went for an outing to the famous Kumbhe waterfall in Maharashtra’s Raigad district on July 16.
Her friends alerted the local police, who soon reached the spot and rescued her with the help of a team from the Coast Guard, Kolad rescue staff, and workers from the Maharashtra State Electricity Board.

“Once we reached the spot, we realised that the girl had fallen almost 300-350 feet. Even after reaching her, it was hard to get her up owing to her injuries, apart from the heavy rain. So we decided to use a vertical pulley to retrieve her,” said one of the rescuers.

Another rescuer told Lokmat that big stones were continuously falling down the gorge, adding to the complications in the operation.

However, she had sustained critical injuries in the accident, which she succumbed to at the hospital.

She was first rushed to the taluka government hospital in Mangaon and, during treatment, succumbed to injuries, said the official from Mangaon police station.

The authorities have appealed to the tourists to be extra cautious when visiting waterfalls during the monsoon season.
