Former President of the United States, Mr. Donald Trump, has given an account of a recent assassination attempt on him during a campaign speech at the Republican National Convention, saying he was not an easy target because God shielded him.

Trump explained the moments of the attack, how he almost got hit by a bullet because he was fast enough to move out of the way. He said the bullet grazed his ear as he leaned to view a screen and considered it a close call.

Trump has said that he felt a very strong impact on his right ear and heard a loud whizzing noise, only to realize finally that he was under an attack. He was quickly whisked off the stage by the secret service agents and took cover behind the podium.

The shooter was identified as Thomas Matthew Crooks, a 20-year-old, who was assassinated by secret service snipers. The motive of the attack remains unclear.
