Washington: Two Indian nationals have been arrested in the US in connection with a $10 million drug haul, officials said. Simranjit Singh, both residents of Fresno in California, are being held on charges of conspiracy to distribute and to possess with intent to distribute controlled substances.

Both appeared in federal court in Boston on July 29 and continue to be in federal custody. Local officers located over 400 kilograms of suspected cocaine, worth more than $10.5 million, inside the cabin area of their tractor trailer.

Details of the Incident:

Although, according to charging documents, the white tractor trailer arrived at a pre-arranged location in Andover on July 29 at 10:15 for purportedly delivering methamphetamine to undercover agents, driver Gusimrat Singh and passenger Simranjit Singh were seen transferring 65 pounds of suspected methamphetamine to the agents on the scene. The two men were immediately arrested on the spot.

A charge of conspiracy to distribute and possess with intent to distribute controlled substances can lead to a maximum of 20 years in prison, a minimum of three years and up to life on supervised release, and a fine of up to $1,000,000.
