Australia Marks Decade-Winning Border-Gavaskar Trophy
The recently ended Border-Gavaskar Trophy test series saw Australia regain the coveted series after a decade long wait when it last won in 2014-15. India drew first blood by pocketing the first test in Perth and lost thereafter. This victory by Australia, which won the final Test in Sydney by six wickets, resulted in their winning the series, while India failed to make it to the WTC final as well.

Yashasvi Jaiswal’s Performance
The young Indian batter Yashasvi Jaiswal has been a good find for the team in this series. Playing all five games, Jaiswal amassed a total of 391 runs with an average of 43.44 and a strike rate of 53.42. The innings featured 44 boundaries and 4 sixes, demonstrating his prowess in international cricket.

Sharing his experience, Jaiswal took to Instagram,

“Learnt a lot in Australia. Unfortunately, the result wasn’t what we had hoped for but we’ll be back stronger. Your support means everything.”

Virat Kohli’s Underwhelming Series
India’s senior batter, Virat Kohli, struggled throughout the series, managing only 190 runs at an average of 23.75 across eight innings. Australian pacer Scott Boland proved to be Kohli’s nemesis, dismissing him four times. Kohli’s form added to India’s batting woes, which played a role in their inability to capitalize on crucial moments.

Injuries and Missed Opportunities
Injuries, especially to Jasprit Bumrah, who could not bowl in the final sessions of the match, significantly derailed India’s chances in the decisive fifth Test at Sydney. The visitors showed flashes of brilliance but squandered opportunities, allowing Australia to dominate the final phases of the match.

Australia’s Dominance
Australia’s bowlers and batters showed consistency in their performances throughout the series. The likes of Scott Boland, Pat Cummins, and Travis Head played important roles in securing their victory against India, outclassing them in crucial moments.

Although the series was a disappointing result for the Indian fans, young talents such as Yashasvi Jaiswal emerged to give a new hope. The team will now go back and gear up for further challenges, addressing some of the main issues in middle-order stability and injury management.

The Indian captain and coach are keen to come back stronger in the next series, determined to regain the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.
